I’ve finally learned to make proper pasta and tiramisu

The cooking class had such a diverse group, with a great sense of camaraderie and plenty of laughs. There were exchange students from all around Europe, an elderly Italian gentleman who wanted to prove to his family that he could make good pasta dough, and some tourists from Japan who were eager to learn the art of tiramisu. I really enjoyed my time, and I've finally learned how to make proper pasta and tiramisu! If you're in Milan and want to pick up a new skill, I definitely recommend this cooking class.

Suzanne
The professional chef was with us all the time

My girlfriend and I took part in this cooking class, and we had so much fun! First they welcomed us with a glass of wine, and then we went straight into the kitchen and started to make pasta dough from scratch. The professional chef guided us every step of the way, showing us exactly what to do and how to do it. The staff was incredibly attentive, and it was clear they truly enjoy what they do. My girlfriend's pasta turned out better than mine, but my tiramisu was better than hers, so we were both happy!

Start with a welcoming glass of prosecco to welcome you and set the mood for cooking!

PASTA DOUGH - THE FOUNDATION OF ITALIAN CUISINE

Put on your apron and take your place at the workstation of an authentic Italian restaurant. During the Cooking Class Milan, you’ll learn to prepare pasta dough from scratch. Find out which type of flour is best, how many eggs and how much water and salt, plus some tips and tricks to make the pasta dough just right. Later, observe your professional chef guide as they roll pasta dough into thin sheets and cut them into shape. You'll be doing the same and learning how to do it yourself! After the pasta rests briefly, it is time to boil it in a pot, but not for too long, as it must be perfectly al dente! To say that Italians are passionate about pasta is an understatement, as this food is a cornerstone of Italian cuisine. Did you know that there are more than 350 different types of pasta in Italy?

TIRAMISU - THE MOST ITALIAN DESSERT EVER

In this cooking class, you will learn to prepare the best tiramisu, which is often regarded as the most Italian dessert ever. Among the ingredients of this classic delicacy are ladyfinger cookies, espresso coffee, and mascarpone cream cheese. With guidance from a professional chef, you will learn the technique and skills required to produce the rich flavors of tiramisu! Once it is done your tiramisu will be set aside to cool and served later as dessert.

BUON APPETITO!

After working diligently and learning how to prepare pasta and tiramisu, it is time for lunch. Take your seat at the table as the waiter serves you the meal you’ve created with your own hands, paired with a glass of wine. A cooking class in Milan is one of the city’s most rewarding gourmet experiences, and if you’d like to build on it, you can continue your culinary journey with a Milan food tour or the excellent Barolo wine tasting tour for the day after. Who made the first Tiramisu?

As you’ll learn in detail during your Cooking Class Milan experience, the origin of tiramisu is not entirely clear. One version suggests is that in 1969, at the restaurant Le Beccherie, a pastry chef named Roberto Linguanotto, mistakenly dropped mascarpone into a bowl of eggs. To make the most of it, as any professional chef would, he added ladyfinger cookies soaked in coffee and created a new dessert, tiramisu. Other sources suggest different stories, but tiramisu is almost certainly a modern invention rather than a traditional dish. Regardless of its origin, millions of people around the world enjoy tiramisu every day. During your Cooking Class Milan experience, you’ll also learn how to prepare this iconic Italian dessert.
