I’m glad my son convinced me to see the Leonardo da Vinci Last Supper. The painting is HUGE - way bigger than I imagined - and truly striking. Plus, Larissa explained it amazingly and helped us notice all the small things. For example, I didn’t know Judas and Jesus were reaching for the same piece of bread and what that signified.
Extremely pleasant Last Supper tour. We entered immediately through a second entrance, which was nice since we avoided the crowds - much calmer. Our tour guide was 100% devoted to us, answering all our questions. She seemed to truly enjoy working - was nice to learn from someone so passionate!

Do you know who the models were for the "Last Supper"?
The citizens of Milan! Da Vinci took the likenesses of real Milanese inhabitants as inspiration for his figures. However, he couldn’t find a model for Christ’s face and ultimately simply left it unfinished. He was following his friend Bernardo Zenale’s advice, who stated da Vinci couldn’t paint a more beautiful figure than James the Greater and James the Less anyway.
